How to

Setup tips

On this page

Use these tips when you set up Connect for the first time, or when a new connection doesn’t behave as expected. They are for Slack and Microsoft Teams admins, and for people who support a rollout and need to know when to involve an admin. For connections that worked before, see Troubleshooting.

User sign-in (strongly recommended)

Users sign in with Sign in on the website. Conclude can then post their messages with the correct sender identity. Admins send reminders from Admin console > Users and access > Users  with Send sign-in reminder.

Microsoft Teams integration account (recommended)

The integration account is a generic Microsoft account. Conclude posts as this account in Teams when no user credentials are available. Without it, those messages may show a fallback sender. Set it up even when you have users on both platforms.

  • A Microsoft admin creates the account. A Conclude admin then selects it under Admin console > Organization > Integration account . License requirements and diagnostics are in Integration account
  • Add the account to the team that contains the connected channels. For a private channel, add it to the channel directly

Merge users (only if needed)

A person with two email domains or aliases may end up as two users. One symptom is that you see channels in Slack but not in Teams, or the other way round, when you create a connection. An admin selects the duplicates under Admin console > Users and access > Users  and chooses Merge users. See Merge user accounts.

Commands in Slack

  • /c chat creates a chat from Slack and connects it to a Teams chat. It works inside your organization, and with a company you have a Bridge with
  • /c status shows the status of a connected channel, including the number of members

See Chats and General commands.

Commands in Microsoft Teams

  • Type /conclude and then the action, such as /conclude chat, /conclude connect or /conclude status. Only you see the command and the reply
  • Or mention the bot before the command, such as @Conclude connect. Everyone in the channel sees the message
  • Run /conclude help to list the commands for the current channel

See All commands (Microsoft Teams).

Mentioning people across platforms

Users type @Name as usual. The name may not autocomplete, and it can appear as plain text. Conclude turns it into a real mention on the receiving side where it can. That works when users are signed in and have no duplicate accounts. See Working in connected channels.

Message syncing

Thread history syncing is set per connection type under Admin console > Connect > Sync settings , on separate internal and external tabs. You choose between an existing thread and new replies only. Settings in New connection controls system messages, bot messages and translation for one connection. See Message syncing.

Attachments

The policy for files and images is set in Manage attachments under Admin console > Connect > Sync settings . A connection overrides it only when Allow channel-level overrides is on. See File and image sharing.
