Slack permissions
On this page
The Conclude app for Slack requests the OAuth scopes listed here when you install it. This page is for workspace admins who review app permissions before they approve them. Bot token scopes control what the app itself can do. User token scopes act on behalf of the individual user who authorizes them.

Slack user token scopes
These scopes access user data on behalf of the users who authorize them. Conclude requests the openid, profile and email scopes when a user signs in to Conclude with Slack. It requests the others when the app is added to a workspace. It also requests them when an individual user later authorizes Conclude to act on their behalf.
| OAuth Scope | Description | Use Case |
|---|---|---|
| channels:read | View basic information about public channels in a workspace | Conclude lists the channels |
| channels:write | Manage a user’s public channels and create new ones on their behalf | Conclude posts messages from Microsoft Teams into Slack channels |
| chat:write | Send messages on a user’s behalf | Conclude posts direct messages into Slack when they are sent from Microsoft Teams |
| View a user’s email address | Conclude matches users in connected channels by email address | |
| files:write | Upload, edit, and delete files on a user’s behalf | Conclude posts files into Slack as the user who shared them. If that fails, it uses the bot token |
| groups:read | View basic information about a user’s private channels | Conclude tracks Slack membership and helps keep the membership of the larger connected channel up to date |
| groups:write | Manage a user’s private channels and create new ones on their behalf | Conclude posts messages from other chat platforms into private Slack channels |
| openid | View information about a user’s identity | Conclude uses it when a user signs in |
| profile | View a user’s Slack avatar and basic information in a Slack workspace | Conclude receives basic information about a user when they sign in to Conclude |
| reactions:write | Add and edit emoji reactions on a user’s behalf | Conclude adds and removes reactions as the user when they react from another connected platform or from the Dashboard. If the user has not authorized this, Conclude uses the bot token |
